I began the art of custom jewelry making by collecting rocks and gems for freeform cabochons. I have collected from Florida’s Tampa Bay agate coral to the Amethyst mines in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada and from the east coast of the Carolinas to the middle to the Yellowstone River in Montana for Montana agate. I have made unique collectable jewelry from all of these.

In the fall of 2005 I met a gem cutter who was willing to teach faceting lessons. We arranged our first meeting and I began cutting. I was addicted. One day a week on his machine convinced me that I needed a faceting machine.

Being at this for only four years makes me a relative newcomer but no less dedicated to perfection. My background is in teaching mathematics and computer programming.

Recently I took on my first student to learn cabochon jewelry making and my first student facet cutter. Both are doing well. I hope to add to the worlds custom cutters.

Since that first lesson in 2005 I have cut over 200 stones in a variety of gem materials.

Many of the stones have been given as gifts that will become family heirlooms and many more have provided a source for rough to continue cutting.
